GREG BRADSHAW
Architect and Principal, AvroKOGreg Bradshaw is one of four principals at AvroKO, a design firm created in 2000. Greg and the other three principals, Adam Farmerie, William Harris and Kristina O’Neal, met in college at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. AvroKO has since grown to include the original four principals and over 25 employees.
Together, the firm functions as an “idea engine,” generating creativity and momentum for its two types of projects, self-propelled and client-driven. AvroKO’s first self-propelled project was PUBLIC, a restaurant wholly conceived, designed, owned and operated by AvroKO. This design work for PUBLIC won two James Beard Awards, Best Restaurant Design and Best Restaurant Graphics. In the year following, AvroKO unveiled two more self-propelled projects. The Transport Series, AvroKO’s first foray into furniture design motivated by a deep admiration of early 1900s automotive innovations and smart.space, an exploration of modern, space-efficient residential architecture for New York studio apartments, fully outfitted with lifestyle amenities to encourage healthy and organized living.
Perhaps most well known for its work in restaurant design, the firm was included in New York Magazine’s list of “The Influentials 2006: The Most Influential People in Food,” in recognition of the group’s work for such leading New York restaurants as The Stanton Social, Sapa, Odea, Quality Meats for the Smith and Wollensky Group, and The European Union. Outside of New York, AvroKO is currently working on three new restaurants in Las Vegas after designing Social House which opened in October of 2006. Additional projects include a restaurant for the Michael Mina Group and a lounge for Randy Gerber in Arizona, a restaurant for the Auberge Group in Sante Fe, two residential developments based on smart.space principles, a boutique hotel concept in New York and new hotels for various Starwood brands.
