BRUCE GUTLOVE
Bruce Gutlove talks about an innovative program making wine
in Japan.Bruce Gutlove began a career in wine at an early age, working in
importing and sales, wine education, and restaurant consulting before
deciding to pursue winemaking. After studies at UC Davis he entered into
the field of wine production, eventually working on several continents
with some of the most quality-oriented firms around, including:
Trefethen Vineyards, the Robert Mondavi Winery, and Cakebread Cellars in
Napa, California; Veuve Clicquot-Ponsardin in France; Cape Mentelle in
Western Australia; and, Cloudy Bay in New Zealand.
For the last 19 years he has worked as Managing Director of Coco Farm
and Winery of Ashikaga, Japan, a winery owned and operated by mentally
disabled Japanese adults. He lives in Ashikaga with his wife and 5-year
old daughter.
