MICHAEL L. KASAVANA
Professor Michael L. Kasavana talks about the future of the multi-billion-dollar vending industry.Michael L. Kasavana, Ph.D., CHTP, NCE is the NAMA Endowed Professor in the School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University. His teaching and research efforts are sharply focused on information technology for self-service and full-service applications in hotel, restaurant, club, vending, kiosk, and casino environments.
Dr. Kasavana has authored White Papers for NAMA on Cashless Vending, Remote Machine Monitoring, and Understanding MDB, DEX, and DTS. He is also the author or co-author of numerous books, including Managing Front Office Operations (Eighth Edition), Menu Engineering (Third Edition), Managing Technology in the Hospitality Industry (Fifth Edition) and Untangling the Web. In addition, he has written many academic journal and industry trade magazine articles as well as designed instructional and operational software products.
He is a member of the HFTP International Technology Hall of Fame, and a recipient of FS/TEC’s Distinguished Achievements in Food Service Technology Award. In addition, he has garnered the coveted MSU Distinguished Faculty Award, the MSU Eli Broad College of Business Withrow Teacher-Scholar Award, the Academic Spartan of the Year Award, and the MSU Teacher-Scholar Award.
Dr. Kasavana received his BS in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration, his MBA in Finance, and his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He can be reached at kasavana@msu.edu.
